Kodak EasyShare V610 Video Guide

The feature that makes the Kodak Easyshare V610 stand out from the crowd is its 10x optical zoom lens. Sure there are other 10x zoom digital cameras available, but the Easyshare V610 is only 23mm wide. As far as I am aware this makes it the slimmest 10x zoom digital camera currently available.

The reason why you do not find many other cameras with such a long lens in such a slim body is because it is difficult to incorporate a lens of this size into the compact body. Kodak get round this problem by using two lenses. One is used for standard shots while the other is used for zooming into the distance. The camera switches between the lenses automatically, so as far as the person operating the camera goes there is little different in operating this camera as opposed to other models.

Partly due to the two lenses the camera is heavier than most pocket sized cameras. It weighs 160g. Even so this does not make the camera especially heavy. The camera has a shiny black finish.

There are two other features that the Easyshare V610 has that strike me as noteworthy. The first is the larger than standard 2.8" LCD screen. This is one of the biggest screens you will find on a digital camera. The second feature is that the camera offers Bluetooth connectivity.

All the other standard features I can think of for this type of digital camera are available. So you get some scene modes, white balance controls, various flash settings, ISO levels, a self timer and a macro mode for close up photography.

These controls are operated either through buttons on the top and back of the camera or through the menu system. The menu system Kodak use is one of the more straightforward ones and I can envisage new owners being up and running quite quickly with the Easyshare V610.

In the box you will find a battery and charger. No memory card is supplied as Kodak have built 32mb of memory into the camera. Although more generous than many brands you will still need to pick up a memory card before you can start to use the camera seriously.
