The Finepix Z3 is a pocket sized digital camera. It has five megapixels and a three times zoom lens. It comes with a cradle. This is used for recharging the battery and connecting the camera to a compatible printer, television and computer. It is also used to attach the camera to a tripod. When the cradle is connected to a tripod it can give a problem when you are taking portrait style shots as the camera can fall out of the cradle.
The Finepix Z3 is available in Silver, Light blue and Pink.
Without the battery the camera weighs 130g. It is only 20mm wide. This makes it easy to slip it into just about any pocket.
Power is supplied by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The battery is loaded through a door in the bottom of the camera. Both a battery and a charger are supplied with the camera as standard. Next to the batteries is a slot for a memory card. Fuji have built 10mb of memory into the camera. Therefore a memory card is not supplied as standard. The camera is compatible with xD memory cards.
Opening and closing the lens cover will turn the camera on and off. On the top of the camera is a small switch. You use this to place the camera in movie mode or set the camera up to take a still photo. Next to this is the shutter button you press when you want to take a photo.
On the back of the Finepix Z3 is a 2.5" LCD screen. Towards the top on the right hand side are the zoom controls.
Further down are buttons to review photos you have already taken and to access the cameras main functions. These are ISO, picture quality and colour modes. The three colours available are normal, black and white and chrome.
Towards the bottom is an anti blur button. Anti blur works in a different way to image stabilisation you find on other cameras. Anti blur works by increasing ISO levels. This can lead to increased noise levels in a photo. Next to this is a button to change the LCD display.
Standard controls for flash, self timer and macro are also available. There is also a dual purpose control. This is normally used to brighten the LCD screen. When the camera is in review mode it is used to delete photos you no longer require.
In the middle is the button to access the menu system. Menu items are shooting mode, exposure compensation, white balance, high speed shooting, continuous shooting and selecting the auto focus mode. Finally there is an option giving you access to the set up menu. This includes turning digital zoom on and off, setting the date and time and restoring the default settings.
