Canon IXUS 900 Ti Video Guide

Key Features of the Canon IXUS 900 Ti

The Canon IXUS 900 Ti is also known as the Powershot SD900.

Its headline features are a body made out of titanium, ten megapixels and its stylish design. As far as I am aware this is the only digital camera currently available with a titanium body.

When it comes to size the camera is relatively small, but you may still find it does not quite fit into a smaller pocket. Even so it is a handy size. It is 28mm wide and weighs 165g before the battery and memory card are loaded.

Construction feels good and the IXUS 900 Ti gives the impression of a well made camera. As with other cameras in the Canon range this contributes to the fact that you need to pay a bit more than with other brands to buy one.

In terms of features I would describe the camera as a point and shoot camera with a few extras thrown in. For example there are a comprehensive set of colour features if you would like to experiment and add something unusual to your photos. The extras can make the IXUS 900 Ti seem a bit more complicated than other similar cameras when you are getting to know it, but after a while you should be able to find the features and functions you are looking for without too much trouble.

Other small extras include a custom self timer setting. As well as being able to set the timer to a two or ten second delay there is also the custom setting. This allows you to set a delay time of your choice up to thirty seconds. At the end of the delay time you can make the IXUS 900 Ti fire off up to 10 photos in quick succession.

One point to keep in mind is that the camera's main controls are split into two areas. Some such as white balance and resolution are found by pressing the camera's functions button. Other more basic features such as the date and time and the language the menu appears in are accessed through the camera's menu system.

Another feature that is quite rare to see on this type of camera is an optical viewfinder. It is not the biggest viewfinder I have ever seen, but it can still come in handy when bright sunlight is around making the screen hard to see or if you simply prefer to line up your shots through a viewfinder. When you take into account that Canon have found room for a viewfinder the LCD screen is still a good size at 2.5".

In the box you will find a battery and charger, plus all the cables and software you need to connect the camera up to a television set, computer or compatible printer. There will also a 32mb memory card in the box. Although this is larger than many manufacturers provide you will not be able to store many 10 megapixel photos on it before it is full. The camera is compatible with both standard SD cards and the newer high capacity SDHC cards.

To be honest there are not that many cameras that are similar to the IXUS 900 Ti. Other manufacturers appear to be concentrating more on slimmer and slimmer cameras.
