The Sony Nex-5 is an advanced digital camera. It has a small body size and its weight is kept low partly by Sony using a magnesium based body. It is able to accept different lenses so you are able to select the most appropriate lens for each photo opportunity you have.

Sony have equipped the Nex-5 with 14 megapixels. The 3 inch LCD screen can be tilted to make viewing easier for you. The screen displays plenty of tips and advice. This is likely to be a big help to you if you are relatively new to photography or the features available with the Nex-5.

The Nex-5 has the capacity for high speed shooting. It has a burst mode that is capable of reeling off photos at a top speed of 7 frames per second. There is a High Dynamic Range mode for increasing the level of detail showing in the lightest and darkest areas of your photos. This is achieved by combining 3 photos together. A similar technique is used to decrease noise levels and improve overall quality of photos taken at twilight.

You will also find an advanced movie mode. The Nex-5 is capable of shooting High Definition movies and recording stereo sound. There is also a 3D sweep panorama mode. For when you want to add a creative touch there are a set of manual exposure controls available. These include fully manual, aperture priority and shutter priority. To help you get focusing spot on there is a 25 multi point Auto Focus system.

The Nex-5 has an E type mount for attaching lenses. This is a new mount specifically for this series of digital cameras. At the time this camera was introduced there were only 3 lenses available with an E mount. To increase the range of lenses you can use there is a lens adapter available that makes the Nex-5 compatible with the much wider range of Sony A lenses.
