The Sony Cybershot DSC WX1 is a small, compact digital camera with a difference. The difference is it is able to rattle off full resolution shots at a rate of 10 frames per second. This is faster than many Digital SLR cameras are capable of. This is a great innovation if you like to capture fast moving subjects.

Sony has also put this innovation to good use in an attempt to produce lower noise levels for pictures taken in fading light. In order to achieve this it uses a technique that involves firing off six consecutive shots and then overlaying one on top of another to reduce noise and increase picture quality.

The rapid burst mode is also used by the Cybershot DSC WX1 to produce Sweep Panoramic shots. The panoramas cover a very impressive 256 degrees. All you need to do is place the camera in the right mode and then spin the camera round through an arc whilst taking a picture. The camera fires off a burst of shoots and stitches them all together.

In addition to these features Sony has equipped the Cybershot DSC WX1 with the ability to shoot High Definition movies. It also has a 5x optical zoom lens with wide angle capabilities. The focal length starts at 24mm making this lens as wide as any you can currently find on a compact digital camera (as at August 2009).
