The Sony Cybershot DSC TX1 is a 10 megapixel, touch screen controlled digital camera. It has a very slimline body and will easily fit into a pocket. In fact it is one of the most compact digital cameras you can buy.
The biggest difference between the Cybershot DSC TX1 and most other consumer level digital cameras is the type of sensor Sony has equipped the Cybershot DSC TX1 with. It is a CMOS sensor rather than the more standard CCD type. This may not mean very much to you, but it enables this camera is able to fire off a burst of shots at up to 10 frames per second at full resolution. That is faster than many Digital SLRs are a capable of. As well as being of great benefit to you when shooting fast moving subjects, Sony has used this technology in two other areas. The first is that in an attempt to combat noise in pictures taken in twilight and general lowlight. To do this they have developed a technique of firing off six shots and superimposing them one over the other to increase quality. The second area covers a feature called Sweep Panorama. This allows you to sweep the camera round and take panoramic photos through a 185 degree arc. I am not aware of any other brand is offering this feature as of August 2009.
Other features include a 4x zoom lens, High Definition movies and a 3 inch LCD screen.
