The Samsung WB500 is a little different. Its 10x optical zoom lens has a focal length starting at 24mm making it one of the widest lenses you will find on a compact digital camera. Compared with other digital cameras with longer zoom lenses Samsung has packed the WB500 into a compact body size.

Another difference is the fact you can recharge the battery directly from a wall socket or from the USB port on a computer. Samsung supplies the camera (and the battery) and that is all you need.

If you get a little careless and accidentally delete your holiday snaps the WB500 can come to the rescue as Samsung has included a recycling bin. This adds another step in the deletion process to give you a little extra security.

Other features worth a mention include a red eye fix to clean up any portraits taken under flash light and image stabilisation. Image stabilisation is always worth having on a digital camera with this length of lens. You can also capture High Definition movies.
