The Samsung ST500 gives you access to a 1.5 inch LCD screen on the front of the camera. This is to help you when shooting any self portraits. It can also be useful when taking a photo of someone else as they get the chance to see what the picture will look like before it is taken. The front LCD screen can also be switched to show fun pictures, so that when you are taking photos of younger children you have a greater chance to take shots of them looking happy.
The camera lens offers 4.6x zoom. It has a minimum focal length of 27mm giving it wide angle capabilities. The ST500 is a 12 megapixel camera.
Samsung has also built in technology that is activated by tilting the ST500. This can activate various functions such as starting a slide show or rotating a photo.
At less than 19mm wide the ST500 is currently one of the slimmest digital cameras to include a High Definition movie mode. It can capture movie footage at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Other features include image stabilisation and a recycle bin that guards against the accidental deletion of any photos. Photos are composed through a 3 inch LCD screen.
