The Samsung PL65 gives you 12 megapixels, plus a 5x zoom lens. Image stabilisation has been built in to reduce the risk of blur being caused by hand shake. For composing photos and accessing the menu system Samsung has incorporated a 3 inch LCD screen. The PL65 is available in black, grey, silver and pink. This camera is easy enough to use, forming part of the Samsung point and shoot range. Ease of use is further enhanced by a built in help guide.
As is becoming more common with the current batch of digital cameras a Smart Auto mode has been added. When you activate this mode the PL65 attempts to detect the type of scene you are photographing and attempts to use the optimum settings to give you the best possible photograph.
With memory card capacity becoming larger it can be difficult to keep track of the photos you have taken. Samsung has incorporated a Smart Album into the PL65. This allows you to organise and search for your photos using different criteria such as time and colour.
Another innovation from Samsung is a frame guide. This is not all that easy to explain! It allows you to line up a subject and then place you or another person right next to it. This is probably more of a gimmick than a genuine photographic feature, but it can add a sense of fun to the picture taking process.
