The Samsung PL50 is a 10 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. Black and pink versions of the PL50 are available. For composing shots and accessing the menu system there is a 2.7 inch LCD screen.
Samsung has placed the emphasis on ease of use, but there are one or two features that you do not always come across with other brands. These include a smart album mode to make it easier to find your photos, plus a beauty mode to smooth skin and reduce the impact of blemishes when taking a portrait shot.
As with other Samsung digital cameras the PL50 gives you the option of charging the camera by plugging it into a USB port on your computer. There is also a recycling bin available to reduce the chances of photographs being deleted in error.
Other features include a smile detection mode that fires off a shot if the camera detects someone is smiling. There is a blink detection setting too. This warns you if someone was blinking while you were taking a portrait shot. Face detection has been built in to help you with focusing and lighting for portrait shots. The PL50 is able to detect and focus on up to nine faces in any shot.
