The Pentax Optio P80 is a small, lightweight, pocket camera. This is one of the lightest digital cameras you are likely to find. It weights only 105g without a battery or memory card. Adding these in lifts the weight to 120g. This is much lighter than most digital cameras. One reason why the camera weighs so little is the fact the body is made from an aluminium alloy.
Standard features include 12 megapixels and a 4x optical zoom lens. Pentax has built image stabilisation into the Optio P80 to help reduce any blur caused by camera shake.
As is becoming increasingly common, Pentax has built in a High Definition movie mode. Other features that are also becoming more prevalent elsewhere are a smile shutter and a blink detection feature. If you turn on the smile shutter the Optio P80 will automatically fire off a photo if it detects someone smiling, without any intervention form you. Face detection is a further option for improved portrait shots.
Pentax has also included a set of digital filters. These allow you to add some extra creativity to your photographs. There is also a D-Range setting. This can help to add extra detail to the lightest and darkest areas of your photos.
