The Pentax Optio E80 is a simple point and shoot digital camera. To help make this camera even friendlier to the novice photographer Pentax has used larger buttons for easier control and larger menu text. The menu is accessed through a good sized, 2.7 inch LCD screen.
The Optio E80 is a 10 megapixel digital camera. I suspect one of the main attractions is likely to be the High Definition movie mode. Although this feature is becoming more common on digital cameras it is rarer to find it available on models such as the Optio E80 at the lower end of the market. Aside from the more advanced movie mode the functions available are fairly basic. This includes a 3x optical zoom lens. The upside of a reduced feature set is that you do not pay for a host of features you are unlikely to use, plus the fact with fewer options to search through it can make the camera easier to operate.
Other features include face recognition and a high speed, continuous shooting mode. Pentax has also built into the Optio E80 a feature that helps to protect against the accidental deletion of photos. Power is supplied by 2 AA batteries.
