The Pentax K200D is aimed at amateur photographers. This type of Digital SLR is a good choice if you are looking to step up from a compact digital camera to something more advanced. As you would expect the K200D comes with a full range of manual exposure features giving you much greater control over the way your photographs look.
The K200D normally comes in a kit form with a wide angle lens included to get you started. When setting your budget it is worth including the cost of a telephoto zoom lens as well. Together with the supplied lens this should give you enough flexibility to cater for your initial needs. Further lenses can be added later as required.
When compared with more advanced Digital SLRs you will also notice that Pentax has made the K200D a smaller, compact body size. It is also one of the more lightweight Digital SLRs.
Image stabilisation has been built into the camera body. The advantage of this is that it helps to keep the cost of compatible lenses down as they do not require image stabilisation technology to be built in.
