The Panasonic DMC TZ5 is small and compact when taking into account the fact it has a 10x optical zoom lens. Although this is not a pocket sized camera it is much smaller than the typical super zoom camera.
As well as the obvious telephoto qualities for zooming in from distance the lens also has wide angle capabilities for capturing wide scenes. This gives the camera great flexibility and Panasonic are marketing the camera as being ideal for holidays and travel owing to its versatility.
Another major attraction is its ability to shoot HD quality movies. To playback movies on a HD television you need to pick up a cable. The cable is not supplied with the DMC TZ5 as standard.
The DMC TZ5 has a number of features that although not essential are good to have. These include a 3 inch LCD screen and image stabilisation. There is also 50mb of storage built into the camera to get you started when it comes to storing images.
