The Panasonic Lumix DMC SZ5 has the ability to be controlled by a smartphone. It also has Wi-Fi functions so you can connect to a PC, Phone or Television. When you pass over control from the camera to a smartphone this allows you to zoom, set focus and take the picture without the need to touch the camera. You can view the photo you are about to take on your phone screen too.
The Lumix DMC SZ5 is set up so that it automatically transfers photos and videos to a computer while the battery is being charged. This is done via a wireless access point. In addition you have the option of using the Panasonic Cloud to synchronise your photos and video clips on different devices.
Another advantage of its connectivity with smartphones is that you can use the phone’s GPS system to tag your photos with GPS coordinates so that you know where you were when a picture was taken.
Aside from these features the camera operates as a fairly typical point and shoot camera. It has 14 megapixels and a 10x zoom lens. The amount of zoom available can be increased to a maximum of 21x if you reduce the number of megapixels you are shooting at.
Other features include High Definition Movies, Image Stabilisation and a 3 inch LCD screen.
