The Panasonic DMC FT1 is the first tough digital camera from Panasonic. It is waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. You can use the DMC FT1 in water to a depth of 3m and drop the camera from heights of up to 1.5m and it should not cause any damage. These features help to make the camera a good choice if you are looking for a family camera that may suffer the odd bump and bruise.

Another attractive feature is the fact the DMC FT1 can shoot high definition movies.

More standard features include 12 megapixels and a 4.6x optical zoom lens. The amount of zoom available can be increased when shooting at lower resolutions. The DMC FT1 sports most of the features you would expect to find on any standard point and shoot digital camera. The specification includes image stabilisation and automatic red eye correction. You should also be able to slip the camera into most pockets.
