The Panasonic Lumix DMC FS35 is a compact digital camera with 16 megapixels and an 8x optical zoom lens. At a little more than 27mm wide the Lumix DMC FS35 will fit into a good sized pocket, but does not really qualify as an ultra compact digital camera.
As with other Panasonic digital cameras extra zoom becomes available if you reduce the number of megapixels you are shooting at. This adds a lot of flexibility to the camera and with 16 megapixels to play with you can reduce the resolution and still be able to make snapshot sized prints. A maximum of 18x zoom is available when you are shooting at 3 megapixels or less. The lens also has wide angle capabilities. These enable you to squeeze wider scenes into your shots.
If you like the idea of being able to record short movie clips with a digital camera then you will find it useful that the Lumix DMC FS35 is able to capture High Definition quality movies. As is becoming increasingly the norm with digital cameras Panasonic have built in software that helps to make it easy for you to upload your photos and video clips to web sites such as YouTube and Facebook.
