The Panasonic Lumix DMC FX90 has two main attractions. These are the ability to change settings and controls through a touch control LCD and the ability to send images to a computer using Wi-Fi. The LCD screen is 3 inches in size. For Wi-Fi to work your computer will need to also have Wi-Fi capabilities in order to be able to receive photos you have sent from the Lumix DMC FX90.
More standard features Panasonic have included on the Lumix DMC FX90 are 12 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens. Like other Panasonic digital cameras you have the option to reduce the number of megapixels you are shooting at in order to gain access to increased zoom power. This works on a sliding scale with more and more zoom becoming available as you decrease the resolution further. A maximum of 9.8x zoom is available at 3 megapixels and below.
The lens has wide angle capabilities with a minimum focal length equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format. Image stabilisation has been built in to the lens to decrease the chances of blurred photos. The lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.5. The advantage of this is that it should improve the performance of the Lumix DMC FX90 when you are taking photographs when the light available is not perfect.
A relatively new idea for digital cameras is the ability to take 3D shots. The Lumix DMC FX90 is capable of doing this for playback of a 3D television.
Shooting movies is catered for by a Full High Definition movie mode.
