The Olympus XZ-1 has a compact body size with a range of hi-tech features packed inside. This type of digital camera is likely to appeal to you if you are serious about your photography and are looking for an advanced compact either as your main camera or as a back up to your Digital SLR. Owing to its compact size many photographers carry this type of camera when they are scouting for locations or for when a Digital SLR is not practical.

The XZ-1 offers you a set of manual exposure controls giving you extra control over how your photographs look. It also has a large f1.8 zoom lens. This can be a big help to you when shooting in lowlight. Olympus have equipped the XZ-1 with a lens ring to give you fast access when it comes to changing key settings.

As you might expect with this level of digital camera it comes with image stabilisation and can shoot High Definition movies.

There is also scope to enhance the XZ-1. You can opt to buy an external viewfinder to compliment the 3 inch LCD screen. You can also buy an external flash unit. Sound can be improved by the purchase of an optional stereo microphone.
