The big attraction of the Olympus SP-820UZ is its 40x zoom lens. In addition to its obvious ability to zoom in on distant subjects it can also squeeze in plenty of wide scenes. This makes it one of the most flexible compact digital cameras on the market. With this camera you have the ability to photography almost any subject.
The flexibility of the camera is further enhanced by a movie mode than can focus from 1cm away from your subject.
Olympus have equipped the SP-820UZ with Image Stabilisation. That is a worthwhile feature to have with a camera offering this much zoom and for when you want to take handheld macro shots.
Other features include 14 megapixels and a 3 inch LCD screen. You can shoot Full High Definition Movies too. The camera is compatible with Eye-Fi memory cards. These give you Wi-Fi connectivity.
One feature that is usually found on this type of camera, but is not included this time around is a set of manual exposure controls. Exposure is therefore controlled automatically by the camera, although you do get a small amount of control through the inclusion of a range of scene modes. Another difference is that power is supplied by AA batteries rather than the more typical Lithium Ion type.
