The Olympus SP-610UZ has 14 megapixels and a 22x optical zoom lens. That should be plenty of zoom power for you to home in on most distant subjects. The lens also has wide angle capabilities. This allows you to zoom right out when you are looking to capture wide scenes such as landscapes, buildings and groups of people.
Olympus has included a few features in the SP-610UZ and other recent additions to their range that are not widely available elsewhere. These include the ability to take 3D still photos and compatibility with Eye-Fi memory cards. Options for viewing 3D still photos are currently limited unless you own a 3D television, but you can expect to see other options appearing shortly such as 3D printing and 3D digital photo frames.
Another option offered by Olympus is the ability to charge the battery by connecting the SP-610UZ to a computer via a USB cable. The cable is provided as standard with the camera.
Image stabilisation and High Definition movies are available. If from time to time you need a little help Olympus has built into the SP-610UZ a brief in camera manual. For composing your photos there is a 3 inch LCD screen.
