The Olympus MJU 850SW has special seals that make it waterproof to a depth of 3m. It is also shockproof if dropped from heights up to 1.5m. This combination helps to make the MJU 850SW popular with families where the children are keen to get their hands on the camera. The waterproof feature also makes the camera a good choice for use around the pool or even on the beach. An underwater case is also available. This makes the camera waterproof to a depth of 40m and is suitable for diving.
Olympus has also made the MJU 850SW resistant to cold temperatures so it should work just as well in cold or freezing conditions.
It is more or less pocket sized too, so there is no problem carrying the camera around with you. It comes in three colours: black, silver and pink.
The MJU 850SW has most of the features you would expect to find on a more standard, point and shoot digital camera. It has face detection for sharper portraits and has a 2.5 inch LCD screen.
