Although the Olympus MJU 7040 operates as a point and shoot digital camera it has a number of additional features built into it that mark it out as a clear step up form the most basic digital cameras. To start with it offers 7x optical zoom. That is a lot of zoom taking into account the smaller body size. On top of this the lens has wide angle capabilities. Next up the MJU 7040 also has a larger than standard LCD screen at 3 inches in size. This can be a big help when composing a photo.
Image stabilisation is almost becoming obligatory on better quality digital cameras and it is included here. Another feature being seen more and more that has been included on the MJU 7040 is the ability to shoot High Definition movies.
Features that are less common elsewhere include the ability to recharge the battery by attaching the camera to a USB computer port. This reduces the amount of kit you need to carry around with you.
Storage options have also been upgraded from previous Olympus models. A switch has been made away from xD memory cards with the MJU 7040 being compatible with SD and SDHC cards. 2gb of storage has also been built into the camera.
