The Olympus MJU 7010 offers something a little different to other compact digital cameras. Although it has a relatively small body and measures a shade over 26mm wide it has a 7x optical zoom. This gives you extra zoom power over more standard compact models. The lens has wide angle capabilities. This increases the amount of wide scenes you can squeeze into your shots. To help produce sharp shots with this longer lens Olympus has built image stabilisation into the MJU 7010.
For portrait shots there is face detection. This now appears on more or less every digital camera. It helps the MJU 7010 to focus on a face or a number of faces in a shot. It also tries to ensure the exposure levels are right. This is particularly useful when the sun is behind the people you are photographing as it ensures the faces are lit correctly. Olympus has also included a beauty mode. This is also aimed at portrait shots. It softens skins and reduces blemishes.
Other features include a 2.7 inch LCD screen, plus AF tracking to keep moving subjects in focus. The MJU 7010 is available in dark grey, silver and pink.
