The Olympus FE-340 offers a number of features that you do not normally associate with digital cameras at the lower end of the price spectrum. To start with there is a 5x optical zoom lens. Although this may not sound a great deal of zoom it does offer a good advantage over a more typical 3x zoom lens. Next up is the 2.7 inch LCD screen. Again this is a small step up from the more standard 2.5 inch screens, but it can help to make it easier to compose your photographs. If you are planning to take close up shots then the fact the FE-340 can focus from 3cm is likely to be a big advantage. On other more basic cameras you often find that the camera has to be at least 10cm away from the subject before it can focus.

The FE-340 is also surprisingly small and lightweight. It is less than 23mm wide and weighs 116g without a battery or memory card. This makes it one of the most lightweight cameras for carrying around. You also have a choice of colours with black, silver, pink and blue models available.
