The Nikon D3x doubles the number of megapixels offered by the Nikon D3. It offers a massive 24 megapixels. This camera is aimed at the most demanding professional photographers. The D3x is capable of producing 138 megabyte files. Nikon suggest the definition levels produced by the D3x make it ideal for commercial, high fashion, fine art and landscape photographers. It is also a good choice for sports photography, photojournalism and magazine advertising.
At full resolution the camera can shoot at up to five frames per second. When you reduce the resolution to 10.5 megapixels shooting speeds increase to a maximum of seven frames per second. Image files can be recorded as TIFF, JPEG or NEF (RAW) formats.
Advanced focusing techniques are covered by 51 AF points, 15 cross type sensors and 36 horizontal sensors that track and lock onto moving subjects. In Live View mode you can zoom in up to 27x to check focusing is perfect.
The camera body is made from a magnesium alloy. This helps to protect the camera from moisture and dust. It also helps to make the D3x resistant to shock.
The viewfinder is 3 inches in size and is made up of around 920,000 dots. The D3x is compatible with Nikon’s GP-1 GPS receiver to gather information such as latitude, longitude, altitude and date of shooting.
