The Nikon D300S is an upgrade to the very popular Nikon D300. This camera is popular with both high end consumers and while it also serves as an entry level Digital SLR for professional photographers.
In many respects it has a good all round feature set. It is capable of reaching speeds of up to 7 frames per second with the supplied battery and up to 8 frames per second with a more powerful battery pack. This makes it a serious option for sports and wildlife photographers.
One of the major upgrades from the previous model is the ability to record High Definition movies at 720p. There is a stereo microphone input to give you the opportunity to improve the quality of sound you can record.
The 51 point Autofocus mode is a major advancement on a more basic Digital SLR.
The D300s comes with a Live View mode. Sensor cleaning has been built into the camera as well.
Images can be stored on either CompactFlash cards or SD cards. You can even set the D300s up to record movies to one card type of and still images to another in order to ease managing images.
The camera body has a magnesium-alloy construction.
