The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the first digital camera to sport a built in projector. This gives you the chances to take a photo and immediately display it on a wall or any other surface of your choice. Aside from this feature the Coolpix S1000pj has a fairly standard set of features for a pocket sized digital camera. Not surprisingly having a built in projector adds a premium to the price of the camera so you will need to decide how often you feel you are likely to use this feature before buying the camera.
More standard features include a 12 megapixel sensor, plus a 5x optical zoom lens. The lens is wide angle. This is useful for squeezing wide scenes into a photo, for example a landscape, group of people or a wide building. Image stabilisation has been built into the camera and there is a 2.7 inch LCD screen for composing photos and accessing the menu system.
As is standard on the compact cameras introduced by Nikon in summer/autumn 2009 there is a smart portrait mode. This helps to improve the quality of any portrait shots you take.
The Coolpix S1000pj is available in black and should be in the shops from September 2009.
