The Nikon Coolpix P90 is an advanced digital camera with a 24x optical zoom lens. The lens also has wide angle capabilities. Nikon has built image stabilisation into the lens. Among the more advanced features are manual exposure, aperture priority and shutter priority. The Coolpix P90 has a 12 megapixel sensor.
For fast moving subjects there is a high speed shooting mode that lets you shoot up to 45 shots at a top speed of 15 frames per second. There is also a pre-shooting cache. This works by pressing the shutter button half way down and the Coolpix P90 starts to store potential photos.
The 3 inch LCD screen can be tilted by 90 degrees upwards and 45 degrees downwards. This can be a big help when shooting at difficult angles. There is also an electronic viewfinder. For close up work the Coolpix P90 can focus from just 1cm away in macro mode.
Power is supplied by a lithium ion rechargeable battery. Although a small amount of memory has been built into the Coolpix P90 by Nikon you will need to pick up either an SD or SDHC card before you can really put the camera through its paces.
