The Nikon Coolpix L23 is a simple, starter digital camera. It is suitable for you if you are new to digital photography or if you are looking for a point and shoot camera with a relatively low price tag.
The Coolpix L23 has 10 megapixels. Although 10 megapixels is currently as low as any digital camera from the leading brands that is still more than enough if you are looking to make snapshot sized prints of around 5 x 7 inches.
Nikon have given the Coolpix L23 a 5x zoom lens. As with the majority of the latest digital cameras the lens is capable of taking wide angle shots, allowing you to squeeze extra wide scenes into your photos.
For composing your photos and accessing the menu system there is a 2.7 inch LCD screen.
Power is supplied by AA batteries. Fewer and fewer cameras use this type of battery and the Coolpix L23 is one of only a small number of cameras to offer you this choice.
As well as the automatic shooting options the Coolpix L23 also has a Smart Portrait system. Options include being able to automatically fire off a shot if the camera detects someone is smiling, setting an alert if someone in the picture is blinking, skin softening to reduce blemishes and automatic red eye fix.
