The Nikon Coolpix AW100 is the first rugged digital camera produced by Nikon. The Coolpix AW100 is waterproof to depths of 10m, shockproof to drops of 1.5m and freezeproof to temperatures as low as 14 degrees centigrade.
Aside from its robust features the Coolpix AW100 operates as a simple point and shoot digital camera. Possibly its most impressive features is the GPS tracking that Nikon have built in. This allows you to see exactly where in the world you were when a picture was taken. As well as the GPS function there is a built in electronic compass and world map.
Standard features include 16 megapixels and a 5x wide angle lens. The LCD screen is 3 inches in size. To help combat picture blur image stabilisation has been built into the lens. Close up photography is catered for by a macro mode that can focus from just 1cm away from your subject.
If you like the idea of shooting short movie clips the Coolpix AW100 is capable of shooting Full High Definition movies with a resolution of 1080p. You can also capture movies in iFrame format for faster downloading.
Nikon have made the camera available in three colours: orange, black and blue.
