The Nikon 1 V1 is a Compact System Camera. This type of camera works in a similar way to a Digital SLR, but it is much smaller. For example the Nikon 1 V1 enables you to switch lenses when you need to and it also comes with a set of manual exposure controls (fully manual, aperture priority and shutter priority). The 1 V1 has 10 megapixels
Key features include the ability to shoot at 10 frames per second and a GPS tracking system to record where you were in the world when a picture was taken. Nikon have also equipped the 1 V1 with a 3 inch LCD screen and an electronic viewfinder. Focusing options include a 73 Auto Focus system.
Nikon have also built in an advanced movie making system. To start with the 1 V1 allows you to shoot Full High Definition movies (resolution 1080p). In addition you can shoot movies that can be played back in slow motion. You can also take still photos while you are shooting a movie. A further option is time lapse movies. When you place the camera in this mode the 1 V1 will take individual photos at timed intervals that you set. The individual still images are then stitched together to run one after the other in a movie. This feature is often used to plot clouds moving across the sky or a flower opening.
The 1 V1 also has a hot shoe. This allows you to attach a Nikon speedlite to the camera to increase your flash options.
When buying, you can pick up the 1 V1 in various kit forms. The kits give you different lens options. For example you can buy a kit with a single lens to get started or with two lenses to give you added flexibility when taking photo.
