The Fuji Finepix X-Pro1 is a compact system camera. This type of camera is a cross between a digital camera and a Digital SLR. As well as having plenty of up to the minute technology packed inside the camera the retro look of the Finepix X-Pro1 is also a nod to the past.
When marketing the Finepix X-Pro1, Fuji have made a fair amount of references to the past. In addition to the retro look Fuji have built a new type of sensor that they say reacts in a way much closer to capturing images on film than other digital sensors. They have also built in film simulation where you can give your images a look based on the different types of film Fuji offer. If you are not sure what type of film suits your image the best you can opt to use film simulation bracketing. Also just as you can when using film you can build multiple exposures.
A lot of effort has been put into the design and build of the Finepix X-Pro1. The top and base of the camera have been made from die-cast aluminium alloy. The rest of the camera has a leather look finish.
The Finepix X-Pro1 is compatible with a new type of mount the Fuji X mount. At the time of its introduction three X mount lenses with fixed focal lengths were introduced as well.
In terms of features and also the price tag the Finepix X-Pro1 is aimed at the serious photographer. It has a range of manual exposure controls, plus a hot shoe. There is a 3 inch LCD screen as well as a hybrid viewfinder where you can choose between optical and electronic settings.
