The Casio Exilim EX-ZS5 is being marketed as a fun camera. The ideal buyer is someone looking for a straightforward digital camera with a fairly low price tag. It offers you fully automatic operation. All you need to do is point your camera at the subject and press the shutter button to take a picture. At a little more than 20mm wide you should have no problem slipping the Exilim EX-ZS5 into most pockets.
Whilst it may not be full of all the latest features the Exilim EX-ZS5 has a similar set of controls to many digital cameras in this price bracket. Features include 14 megapixels and a 5x wide angle zoom lens. That is fairly standard for an entry level digital camera in early 2011.
The LCD screen is 2.7 inches in size. For close up photography the Exilim EX-ZS5 has a macro mode capable of focusing from 5cm away from your subject. Again this is all standard stuff.
Casio has not equipped the Exilim EX-ZS5 with a High Definition movie mode, but it is able to record movies at a resolution that should provide acceptable quality when played back on a television. There is a setting for shooting widescreen movies.
