The Canon Powershot SX20 IS is a super zoom digital camera. It offers 20x optical zoom. In addition to the power to zoom in on distant subjects the lens also has wide angle capabilities giving the Powershot SX20 IS excellent flexibility to cover most photo opportunities.

Other key features are a High Definition movie mode that can capture footage at 720p. Still images can be captured while shooting a movie. There is also a 2.5 vari angle LCD screen. This means you can pull the LCD screen out away from the camera body and twist it round to a more comfortable shooting position. This really comes into its own when shooting at awkward angles or when you need to shelter the screen from bright sunlight. In addition to the LCD screen there is also a viewfinder for composing photo.

For the enthusiast the Powershot SX20 IS has a number of more advanced controls and features. These include manual exposure, aperture priority and shutter priority modes. Canon has also added a hot shoe to the camera for attaching external flash units. Focusing options include manual focusing as well as Servo focusing. Servo focusing helps to keep sharp focus of moving subjects.
