The Canon Powershot SX150 packs some useful features and plenty of zoom power into a compact sized body. Although the Powershot SX150 is on the large side for slipping into a pocket it is still a good deal smaller than cameras offering this amount of zoom 2 to 3 years ago.
Canon have equipped the Powershot SX150 with 14 megapixels and a 12 optical zoom lens. That number of megapixels is plenty even for extra large prints and you should be able to crop your photos and still have a large enough image to make a small print with.
The lens has a minimum focal length of 28mm. This gives it wide angle capabilities allowing you to squeeze wider scenes into your picture. Canon has built image stabilisation into the lens to help combat blur caused by any tiny movements of the camera.
There is a good sized, 3 inch LCD screen for composing pictures and accessing the menu system. Other features include manual exposure controls. These give you some useful, extra control over the way your photos look.
Movie options include being able to shoot High Definition movies. There is also an option to record in iFrame format. This can give you speed advantages when uploading to a computer and editing your movies.
If you would like some help to get started with the Powershot SX150 it has a fully automatic mode where the camera makes all the key exposure decisions leaving you to simply point and shoot the camera. To help you along Canon have preloaded the Powershot SX150 with a hints and tips section to help you get the most from your camera.
