The Canon Powershot SX110 IS and other similar cameras fill a bit of a gap in the market. Many super zoom models now offer 18 or 20x optical zoom. With 10x zoom the Powershot SX110 IS still offers a major step up from more standard digital cameras, but is able to retain a much more compact and lighter body than the super zoom models with extra zoom capacities.
For composing photos, Canon has included a large 3 inch LCD screen. The more serious photographer may be disappointed to see that a viewfinder has not been included. For anyone who sees photography as a hobby and likes to take a bit of extra control over the way their photos look there are a set of manual exposure controls. As is more standard you also have access to a range of white balance, metering and ISO settings.
The flash unit pops up on top of the body. This model and other cameras in the Canon range also gives you extra control over flash as you can adjust the intensity of the flash unit. You can also add an external flash unit too.
