The Canon Powershot S90 is a throwback to earlier generation, Canon digital cameras. It has a small, compact body shape and size that houses a full set of manual exposure controls. This makes the Powershot S90 one of the smallest digital cameras to offer such a range of controls.
One of the big attractions of the Powershot S90 is the inclusion of an f2 aperture. The advantage this gives you is that the camera is able to let twice as much light into the camera that most compact digital cameras can manage. This is a big advantage when shooting in lowlight as it means noise levels can be reduced and through access to faster shutter speeds the possibility of blur affecting your photos is reduced too. Image stabilisation is available as well to further combat blur.
Another significant difference is the introduction of a control wheel at the base of the lens barrel. This can be used as a manual zoom control. With a minimum focal length of 28mm the Powershot S90 has wide angle capabilities.
