The Canon Powershot D10 is the first digital camera from Canon that is waterproof. It is also shockproof to a height of 1.22m, freezeproof to -10 degrees and dust proof as well. Most similar cameras are only waterproof to a depth of 3m, but the Powershot D10 can handle depths up to 10m. This makes it much more flexible in the swimming pool or sea.
More standard features include 12 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom lens. Canon has also added image stabilisation. The LCD screen is 2.5 inches in size. It is covered by a layer of Perspex that helps protect it from bumps and scratches.
In most ways the Powershot D10 handles like a typical point and shoot digital camera. It is straightforward and you should find it easy enough to use. Its tough qualities help to make it a good choice for families where a digital camera may come in for some rough treatment.
