The Canon Powershot A650 IS is like a cut down Digital SLR. It does not have all the advanced features you would expect to find on a Digital SLR, but it does have manual exposure, shutter priority and aperture priority modes. In terms of looks it is much, much smaller than a Digital SLR, but it has a similar grip on the front to help you steady the camera and reduce the possibility of camera shake and blurred photos.

Image stabilisation has been built into the lens. Other useful features include a viewfinder and an LCD screen that you can pull out and twist round. There are two main advantages of this. First you can pull the screen out of direct sunlight, making it easier to see. Secondly if you are shooting at an awkward angle you can adjust the screen to a more suitable position.

Conversion lenses are also available to increase the capacity of the lens of the Powershot A650 IS.
