For the Canon Powershot A2100 IS Canon has overlooked a viewfinder in favour of increasing the size of the LCD screen to 3 inches. The amount of zoom available is a step up from most entry level digital cameras at 6x. Image stabilisation has been incorporated into the lens to help reduce the effect of any camera shake.
Canon has squeezed 12 megapixels onto the sensor. This is enough for poster sized prints. It also gives you the option of trimming photos and still being able to make a print.
Other features include a macro mode that is able to focus from just 1cm away from the subject and red eye correction. This can be turned on so the Powershot A2100 IS attempts to automatically remove red eye from a shot or you can opt to remove red eye manually.
The camera is one of the shrinking number to run on AA batteries. Canon estimates a set of two standard batteries should produce in the region of 240 photos.
