The Canon IXUS 310 HS is aimed at anyone that is looking for a pocket sized digital camera with a touch of extra quality. The IXUS 310 HS has 12 megapixels and a 4.4x optical zoom lens. With a minimum focal length of 24mm you should be able to capture extra wide scenes. This comes in handy if you enjoy taking landscape shots or if you like the idea of taking photos of groups of people.

Another point worth mentioning about the lens is that it has a large f/2 aperture. This means that you are able to pull extra light into your photos. This is a big help if you are taking photos when the light is less than perfect. It can also reduce the number of occasions when you need to use flash.

Other attractions of the IXUS 310 HS include the size of the LCD screen and the all round capabilities of the movie mode. The screen is larger than standard at 3.2 inches in size. This can make it easier for you when composing images or accessing menu options. In movie mode you can capture High Definition movies with a maximum definition of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is a higher resolution than most digital cameras offer. You can also shoot slow motion movies. Canon has upgraded its image stabilisation system specifically for movies. This helps to reduce any blur and provides you with crisp, clear movie footage.
