Overview
The Canon EOS 600D is an entry level Digital SLR with a few more advanced features that mark this camera out as a step up from the most basic models.
Features include 18 megapixels and 9 point Auto Focus. For low light levels the EOS 600D has a wide range of ISO settings. You can select from ISO 100 – 6400. In addition there is an expanded ISO setting of 128,000.
One feature I always like to see is a vari angle LCD screen. This allows you to adjust the position of the LCD screen when you find yourself in an awkward shooting position. You can even shoot round corners. The screen is 3 inches in size.
If you are photographing fast action there is a burst mode that gives you the ability to fire off up to 3.7 frames per second. There are also a set of creative filters you can use when you are ready to give your photos a different look. These include fish-eye effect, Miniature Effect. Toy Camera Effect, Grainy B/W and Soft Focus.
As with other Canon Digital SLRs the EOS 600D has an advanced movie mode. You can shoot full High Definition movies. Manual exposure controls are available when shooting movies. One movie feature I have not seen elsewhere allows you to shoot 2, 4 or 8 second clips and then combine them into a single movie file.

The EOS 600D is compatible with the current range of EF and EF-S lenses. As well as being able to buy the body separately you also have the option of buying the body together with a lens to get you started. There are two lens kits one includes a 18 – 55mm lens. The other gives you extra zoom with an 18 – 135mm lens.
