The Canon EOS 1100D is a starter Digital SLR. It is aimed at anyone looking to buy their first Digital SLR. With this in mind Canon have built in on screen help to guide you through all the main features to ensure you get the most out of the EOS 1100D.
Key features include a 12 megapixels sensor. For composing images you have the option of a 2.7 inch LCD screen or a viewfinder.
As you would expect the EOS 1100D has a full set on manual exposure controls. Focusing is catered for by a 9 point Auto Focus system. Rapid shooting is available through a burst mode that is capable of shooting at a top speed of 3 frames per second for jpegs.
When the light gets low you can select from a range of ISO settings between 100 and 6400. Images can be captured as Jpegs or RAW. RAW format increases the control you have if you are planning to work with your images with a package such as Photoshop. You also have a full set of manual exposure controls at your disposal. These include shutter priority and aperture priority.
High Definition movies can be recorded. The resolution of the movies is 1280 x 720 pixels. Recording speed is 25 frames per second and the maximum duration of each movie is 17 minutes or a maximum file size of 4GB.
The EOS 1100D has Eye-Fi connected features. These make it easier for you to upload your images either to your computer or directly to photo sharing sites such as Flickr.
The EOS 1100D is compatible with the current range of Canon EF and EF-S lenses. If this is your first Digital SLR it may be worth considering buying the camera in kit form. This means that it comes with a lens to help get you started.
