Sony DSC T100 Features

Sony DSC T100 The Sony DSC T100 is an eight megapixel digital camera. It has a five times optical zoom lens. The lens has a focal length equivalent to 35 - 175mm in 35mm format. The maximum aperture of the lens is f/3.5-4.4.

Options to increase the power of the zoom include 10x digital zoom and 25x smart zoom. Digital zoom has an effect on the quality of the photo. Smart zoom is only available at lower resolutions.

Basics

There are two special settings. One allows you to take photos that are an exact fit for 6 x 4" prints. The second is for displaying your shots on a widescreen television. Be aware that this setting is at a lower resolution and you may not be able to make satisfactory prints from photos taken on this setting.

If you would like to be in a shot yourself there is a self timer with a two or ten second delay.

Image stabilisation is available. This is likely to be at its most beneficial when using the zoom lens is lowlight.

You can change colour by setting effects to black and white, sepia, vivid and quiet.

Focusing

For close up shots the DSC T100 can focus from just 1cm away from the subject. The camera also has special face detection software built in. This helps it to focus for group and individual portrait shots.

LCD

The DSC T100 has a very large 3 inch LCD screen. This is made up of around 230,000 pixels.

Flash

The built in flash unit has a maximum range of 3.7m. This falls progressively to 2.9m as you zoom in. The flash modes are Auto, Forced Flash, Slow Synchro and No Flash. Red eye reduction is turned on and off through a menu option.

The intensity of the flash can be increased or decreased.

Scene Modes

Sony tend to have less scene modes than other brands. The DSC T100 has Twilight, Twilight portrait, Soft snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, High-speed shutter and High Sensitivity. When you use a scene mode the camera recognses the type of shot you are about to take and adjusts its settings accordingly.

Movies

The DSC T100 can capture movies up to the capacity of the memory card. Sound can be recorded and zoom is available while recording is in progress. The maximum resolution is 640 x 480 and the top speed is 30 frames per second.

Advanced Features

More advanced features include metering (Spot, Centre weighted, Multi Pattern), ISO (Auto,80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200), white balance (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent1,Fluorescent2,Fluorescent3, Incandescent, Flash) bracketing (+/-1.0 EV, 1/ 3 EV step) and exposure compensation (+/-2.0 EV, 1/ 3 EV step).

There is also a burst mode that allows you to fire off up to one hundred shots.

Shutter speeds are set automatically by the camera. These work in the range ΒΌ - 1/1000 seconds.

Computer - Printers - Television

You will find cables and software in the box to connect the DSC T100 to a television set, computer and compatible printer. Sony DSC T100
