The Samsung WB500 is a 10 megapixel digital camera with 10x, wide angle lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 24 - 240mm in 35mm format. 5x digital zoom is also available.

The LCD screen is 2.7 inches in size. It is made up of around 230,000 pixels.

After a photo has been taken, you can adjust brightness, contrast and saturation. There is an Automatic Contrast Balance feature available, plus a red eye fix. There is also a face retouch setting and a chance to add noise to a photo.

The flash modes available are Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, Flash off, Red eye fix. Flash works to a maximum distance of 4.7m when the zoom is not being used and 2.7m when zoom is fully extended. Flash exposure compensation is also available.

You can access the following scene modes: Frame Guide, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Night, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, Self shot, Food, Cafe

High Definition movies with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels are available. You can zoom in and out while recording the movie.

Verdict:	The Samsung WB500 has plenty going for it. I like the idea of offering a long lens in a smaller body. Picture quality is very good indeed. You also have access to a basic manual exposure mode and High Definition movies.
