The Samsung Digimax S730 is a seven megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 35 - 105mm in 35mm format. 5x digital zoom is also available.

The LCD screen is 2.5" in size. There is no viewfinder.

The built in flash unit works to a maximum range of 3m. This falls to 2.5m when the zoom lens is fully extended.

The scene modes are Night, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow. Selecting a scene mode can help the camera to take the best possible shot as you are giving it that bit of extra direction with regard to the type of photo you are about to take.

Effects
After a photo has been taken there are a number of effects you can apply. These include working with colours, adjusting Brightness, Contrast and Saturation, adding a frame, cartoon speech bubble, photo frame or sticker.

Movies can be recorded with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and with a top speed of 30 frames per second. Zoom can be used while recording is progress and sound can be captured as well. Please note sound recording stops when you are zooming in and out.

The Digimax S730 has a manual mode allowing you to set the shutter speed (8 - 1/1500 seconds) and aperture (F2.8 - F7.1(Wide), F4.9 - F12.4(Tele)). Other advanced features include metering (Multi, Spot), exposure compensation (±2EV (0.5EV steps)), sensitivity (Auto, 80,100, 200, 400, 800,1000) and white balance (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent_H, Fluorescent_L, Tungsten, Custom). Continuous shooting is also available.

Verdict:	The Samsung Digimax S730 is one of the cheaper digital cameras to offer manual exposure. Aside from that feature it functions as a standard point and shoot camera. When it comes to picture quality there are one or two areas where the camera is prone to struggle.
