The Samsung Digimax NV20 is a 12 megapixel digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens. 5x digital zoom is also available. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 34 - 102mm in 35mm format. The lens aperture is f/2.8 - f/5.2.

The range of the built in flash unit is 4.5m. This falls to 2.4m when the flash is turned on. The flash modes are Auto, Auto & Red-eye reduction, Fill-in flash, Slow sync, Flash off and Red-eye Fix.

The scene modes available are Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, BIZ, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, Café, Food and Self-Shot.

Movies with sound can be recorded with a top speed of 30 frames per second. The maximum resolution is 640 x 480 pixels. Zoom can be applied during recording.

There is a fully manual exposure option. This allows you to switch the aperture (wide: f/2.8 or f/7) (tele: f/5.2 or f12.9). Shutter speeds can be set in the range 15 seconds to 1/1500 seconds.

Other advanced features include metering (Multi, Spot, Center-weighted, Face Recognition AE), exposure compensation (±2EV (1/3 EV steps)), ISO (Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 (at 3M )) and white balance (Auto, Daylight, Cloudy, Fluorescent_H, Fluorescent_L, Tungsten, Custom).

Continuous shooting and a burst mode are also available.

Verdict:	This camera just falls short when it comes to picture quality. If it could improve by a few percentage points in key areas it would be a very useful camera. It has a unique design and style. There is also a basic manual exposure mode.
