The Ricoh R8 has 10 megapixels and a 7.1x wide angle, optical zoom lens. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 28 - 200mm in 35mm format. 4.8x digital zoom is available too.
The LCD screen is 2.7 inches in size. The screen is made up approximately 460,000 pixels. I found the screen very clear to see even on a sunny day.
The flash modes available are Auto, Redeye-Reduction, Flash On, Slow Synchro, Soft Flash and Flash Off. The range of the flash is 3m (Wide) 2m (Telephoto).

After a picture has been taken you can adjust brightness, contrast and white balance.
The maximum resolution for a movie is 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. You can zoon in before you start recording, but only digital zoom can be adjusted once recording starts.
