The Ricoh Caplio R7 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 7x wide angle zoom lens. 4,8x digital zoom is also available. The focal length of the lens is equivalent to 28 - 200mm in 35mm mode.

The maximum range of the flash unit is 3m. This reduces to 2m when the zoom lens is in use. The flash modes available are: Flash Off, Auto, Red-eye Flash, Flash on, Flash Synchro and Soft Flash.

The scene modes you can access are Portrait, Face, Sports, Landscape, Nightscape, High Sensitivity, Zoom Macro, B&W, Sepia, Skew correction and Text.

Movies with sound can be recorded at a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The top recording speed is 30 frames per second. Zoom can be applied before shooting starts, but not while recording is in progress.

Among the more advanced functions are sensitivity (ISO AUTO, AUTO-HI, 64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600), metering (multi point, centre-weighted and spot), white balance (Auto, Outdoors, Cloudy, Incandescent, Incandescent 2, Fluorescent and Manual), exposure compensation (+/-2.0EV in1/3EV Steps) and Auto Bracket (-0.5EV, ±0, +0.5EV).

Continuous shooting can also be used.

Shutter speeds work in the range 8 seconds to 1/2000 seconds. You have the ability to override the shutter speed setting it to 1, 2, 4 or 8 seconds.

Interval Timer
Another feature lets you shoot time lapse movies. This feature is also referred to as an interval timer. It lets you set up the camera to take a still photo after a predetermined delay. The delay time can be set to a delay between 5 seconds and 3 hours.
